Applying for Summer Aid

Summer aid is a separate process from the academic year application process, and requires a separate summer aid application to be completed by the student. Student loans for summer sessions are awarded based on unused eligibility from the academic year preceding the summer terms. Your loan eligibility will depend on whether or not you borrowed the annual limit for your grade level during the fall and spring semesters.

To apply for financial aid for summer school:

  1. Be sure you have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the prior Award Year. (example - The 2024-25 FAFSA would be required for Summer 2025 aid.)
  2. Summer Aid Applications are available on the Financial Aid Office's Forms Page. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. Applications received within three weeks of the start of the summer term may not be processed prior to the fee payment deadline.

Please note:

  • In order to be considered for Summer School financial aid, you must be a degree-seeking student at Lander University and you must be enrolling for Summer School at Lander University.
  • In order to be eligible for a Federal Direct Student Loan and/or a Federal Parent Loan (PLUS), undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six (6) hours total during the Summer School sessions. For example, you can enroll in 3 hours Summer Session I and 3 hours Summer Session II and qualify for funding through the Federal Direct Student Loan Programs and/or the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan program. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least three (3) hours total during Summer School sessions to be eligible for a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loan and/or a Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan.
  • For a Schedule of Summer fees, see the Student Accounts webpage.
  • Lander students cannot receive aid from Lander to attend other institutions during the summer with the exception of approved Study Abroad programs requiring enrolling during the summer and for which the student will receive official grades for a summer term.
