This course is designed for students who want to grasp the historical and social background of topical issues in present day Africa. These issues include the disease A.I.D.S., the struggle for human rights in South Africa (Mandela), causes of poverty, population growth, and political instability. Prerequisites: ENGL 102 and a 100-level general education history course. Three semester hours.
