HCMT 315 - Public Hlth Principle/Practice
This course is an overview of public health structure, policy, and public health practice. In contrast to clinical medicine, public health focuses on populations and strategies that can be used to promote health and prevent disease. The course will use problem-based and student-directed learning through lectures and small group discussions to highlight the roles of theory and practice in public health, and teach strategies that can be used to improve the health of entire populations. This course contributes to the student’s professional development and provides them with knowledge of public health systems and practices at the local, national and global levels. Prerequisites: HCMT 201 and institutional GPA of 2.5 of better. Three credit hours.
